The issue of bodybuilding and gaining weight for baseball is one that has been until recently critized.
Weight training has been used as a way to prevent injury amongst top players and to strengthen individual weaknesses. But the very notion that a complete workout is needed to enhance athletic performance is often put aside .
when it comes to baseball a combination of both foundation training for mass and strength and specialization programs are needed . Overall development means the players is faster , generates more power and is strong enough to attain the edge needed to excel at the game. This has become increasingly more important in line with how competitive the game has become and with the use of anabolic steroids in the sport.
It is obvious that a stronger athlete is a better athlete and this applies for baseball as well. Even if you include the use of anabolic steroids, the individual who uses an efficient weight gaining program will fare better than someone who uses the conventional programs espoused by baseball coaches.
There still needs to be various forms of training involved, such as plyometrics and flexibility exercises, but these are not the concern of a weight training program. The point is combine regular practice or drills with an efficient " weight gain "program like the FastMuscles Program and you will have a far superior player.
There are some minor differences in how a program should be designed to serve different positions on the field
The Pitchers need stronger aerobic and cardiovascular endurance. They need greater leg mass and calves, and they need a mass building program to hit the chest , shoulders and arms.
Catchers need a similar program, more emphasis should be placed on forearms and wrist strength , but speed is also crucial and hence the need to build mass on the legs
The infielders and the outfielders-
also have similar requirements when it comes to building muscle mass-more-empasis
is should be placed on the legs , shoulders and arms.
In short proper balance is
needed to build power, speed and endurance
There are a few misconceptions when training for baseball.
Most Baseball players use a conventional
strength training program that sees them use a split routine where they work
their bodies , 2 days on , one day off. That is Monday , tuesday rest on wednesday
, train thursday friday and to make things worse they train using the "cycling
approach", they alternate a light day with a medium day and a heavy day.
This ensures that only the genetically gifted or those under steroids can truly benefit from such a program and succeed in making the team , as far as strength and size is concerned . If you are currently being ignored and not allowed on the team because you are"high risk " to injury , you will develop bigger muscles and strength if you follow this system i am about to reveal to you.
Understand that there is no need for light training to stimulate the throwing of the ball(in baseball). If you must throw the ball , do so in practice drills, but do not use light weight training exercises to serve that purpose: Because they don't and they use up valuable energy resources that could have been best used to serve the growth process.
"EAT BIG TO GET BIG?"
EATING FOR MUSCLE MASS
The only difference is that you need to consume less calories than a bodybuilder 200-300 calories above BMR and not 500-600 as i would suggest for a bodybuilder, since you can't afford the inefficient fat and bulk and you need to minimize body fat levels.
